More accurately, collegiate athletes!
When you think of sports, many things come to mind including competition, excitement, and endorsements. Advertisements and marketing are intertwined with sports, no matter if it’s an ad within a stadium, a full endorsement from a star player, or one of the many commercials seen before, during, and after games. But until recently, these endorsements were missing, at least legally, from the world of college sports. However, this is now changing, and Boost Mobile is helping lead the way.
Due to failed legal proceedings, the NCAA is scrambling to find a direction and collegiate athletes are now able to profit from their name, image, and likeness (NIL) without the fear of repercussion from the organization, so long as it is within the confines of that state’s law. This is what has ultimately paved the way for Boost Mobile to sponsor two of the biggest social media stars in college basketball: Hanna and Haley Cavinder.
“College athletes work hard and have increasingly demanding schedules,” said Boost Mobile CEO Stephen Stokols. “They deserve the power to participate in their success and manage their personal brand, which is why Boost Mobile is embracing the NCAA’s structural changes that enable corporate sponsorship of student-athletes. We are excited to begin our sponsorship program with Hanna and Haley, two elite athletes at the top of their game,” he continued.
Don’t let the TikTok fame fool you, this duo is legit, helping Fresno State reach its first NCAA tournament and representing two of the top three scorers on the team. When they aren’t on the court representing their D1 school, you’ll find them showing off impressive skills in their viral videos. Now, they’re helping Boost reach their audience online, while also trailblazing for future college athletes to do the same.
“Today is a big step in empowering student-athletes like us to take charge of our future and achieve fair recognition for the hard work we put in, both on and off the court. We are excited to partner with Boost and for their support of this big milestone, not just for us, but for student-athletes across the country- and for years to come,” said Haley.
“Our number one goal is to excel on the court, but off the court, we love to show our creative sides and grow our relationships with the TikTok community. Boost keeps us connected so that we can upload and share videos that have a little fun, and hopefully inspire the next generation of women to pursue their basketball dreams,” added Hanna.
While not every college student may amass over 3 million followers on a major social media platform, they certainly can relate to trying to stay connected for less while balancing a hectic schedule. Working with student-athletes helps keep Boost Mobile in the forefront of a youthful audience and a market segment looking to make every penny count. Known for its high-speed data plans featuring unlimited talk and text, Boost Mobile can provide plenty of volume to student-athletes and their classmates.
