DISH Anywhere Embraces Android Functionality

DISH Anywhere is DISH Network’s streaming service that allows its customers to access thousands of on-demand titles, recorded content and live-TV using your tablet, phone or computer. DISH Anywhere truly allows you to access your television content anywhere, unless you have an android device. At least, that used to be case. Now, DISH Network has finally announced that they are bringing DISH Anywhere functionality to android-powered devices. This is a huge step for android users, many of whom have been anxiously awaiting android support since the DISH Anywhere service was first launched back in 2013. Dish’s vice president of product management, Niraj Desai, released a statement about the expanded DISH Anywhere functionality, remarking that “Media players provide easy access to video content, so it’s no wonder one-third of U.S. broadband households own these devices…By expanding the Dish Anywhere app to Android TV, we’re giving our customers more ways to view their content on devices they already own, at no additional cost.”. The improved functionality means that DISH Anywhere can be accessed on any Android-TV enabled devices, including smart TVs running on the platform from Sony and Sharp, as well as media players like the AirTV Player, Xiaomi Mi Box, and Nvidia Shield TV. The new Android TV app provides a 10-foot viewing experience, which should be more than enough range for most living room setups. DISH Anywhere includes access to over 40,000 on-demand titles, and content access is never restricted based on what device you are using. That means that no matter where you are, you’ll be able to access the DISH Anywhere catalogue, or even set your DVR remotely. The Dish Anywhere app is a free download on the Google Play Store, and is also available for Amazon Fire TV devices. Sources: https://www.digitaltrends.com/home-theater/dish-anywhere-app-android-tv/
