DISH Wireless and Mavenir began collaborating earlier this year as the first vendor to join DISH Wireless in creating what is promising to be the leading nationwide cloud-native standalone (SA) 5G network in America. The two companies are once again working on an innovative solution, this time, it is the messaging software from the Texas-native company that DISH Wireless is after.
The use of this software, Mavenir’s RCS Business Messaging app, will be the use of Rich Communication Services and Messaging-as-a-Platform (MaaP) for its customer support efforts. Through an OpenRAN network, customers will be capable of many complex functions including multimedia and voice messaging including cloud-native video, Voice over LTE (VoLTE), and Voice over WiFi (VoWiFi). These functions and more will make it possible for DISH Wireless to utilize artificial intelligence (AI) and chatbots to better serve customers via virtual assistance and answer questions they may have online. “(Mavenir) will enable DISH to provide innovative 5G services on demand, addressing new enterprise use cases based on network slicing and features with agility, speed and automation at a significantly lower cost compared to traditional operators,” said Pardeep Kohli, the President and CEO of Mavenir. When implemented, customers will also be capable of finding promotions and making changes to their subscription.
As we are seeing, DISH has no problem adding a host of vendors to help the emerging wireless company build its innovative network, and what is most exciting, is to see that these partnerships could continue to grow from one project to two and even more as Mavenir is showing us today. “Mavenir’s innovative, cloud-native software solutions are compliant with our reimagined network architecture, which enables us to change the wireless business model and select vendor services and functions on-demand,” said Chief Network Officer and Executive Vice President of DISH, Marc Rouanne. A member of the O-RAN Alliance, DISH Wireless is making innovation and openness core values from the start and building with many partners to create modern solutions for modern problems.
So far, companies have seen revenue move from SMS messaging and into places such as Facebook Messenger for Business and WhatsApp. Mavenir’s RCS Business Messaging software aims to fix this problem and will also work with other apps within the GSMA Universal Profile client portfolio including Google Android Messages and Samsung Messages. Mavenir has helped Rakuten with its Rakuten Mobile app earlier this year and also assisted in creating the largest RCS carrier interconnection between Deutsche Telekom (DT), Telefónica, and Vodafone.
